ABC Anchor and Louisiana Legend Robin Roberts Home from Hospital

Press Release - LPB - Louisiana Public Broadcasting

Entry Date: October 11, 2012
Total Time:

Description: ABC's Good Morning America host Robin Roberts is spending her first full day at home after being hospitalized a month ago to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Roberts is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, and was named a Louisiana Legend in 2001.

In a post on Good morning America's website, Roberts said of going home, "This doesn't mean that my journey is over. Far from it. I am considered 21 days old." It's been 21 days since Roberts received bone marrow from her sister, Sally-Ann, an anchorwoman for WWL-TV in New Orleans. Robin's doctor says it will take a few weeks to determine how well her body adjusts to the transplanted marrow. Meanwhile, Robin will try to regain her strength, avoid infections and watch as her hair grows back. She says she still has a few dark moments, but reminds herself, "This too shall pass."
