Description: Some encouraging news for people in the job market in Louisiana. Economist Loren Scott is projecting tens of thousands of new jobs in our state over the next couple of years.

The retired LSU professor says about 9,000 of those jobs will be related to Baton Rouge's petrochemical industry. Scott say Lafayette will lead the state in creating new jobs, with a 6.9 percent increase in employment opportunities. Houma won't be far behind with 6.2 percent more jobs. Lake Charles is up next. Alexandria, will have a 2.7 percent increase.. Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport and Monroe will all have less than 2.5 percent increases in jobs.
