Edwardin Edwards Asks Feds to Give Him His Space
Description: Former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards has asked a federal judge to end his court-ordered supervision 18 months early. Federal prosecutors say they will not do anything to stand in the 85-year-old former leader's way. Edwards was jailed for eight years after being convicted of bribery and extortion in connection with the issuance of riverboat contracts. Upon his release, Edwards was sentenced to three years supervised probation. Eighteen months early, Edwards says his records are so clean that he believes that final half of supervision should be suspended.
The governor and his wife Trina are scheduled to begin taping a reality television program next month.
