Description: At least one Louisiana state lawmaker doesn't appear as excited as others about Louisiana hosting the Super Bowl this weekend. State Rep. Sam Jones of Franklinton is raising questions about whether the price of having the game here is too high. The state signed a contract promising to give the Saints franchise $5 million dollars each year a Super Bowl is held in our state. The payment will come due as lawmakers and Gov. Bobby Jindal cut possibly as much as $166 million from the state budget. Jones says he doesn't understand how Louisiana taxpayers can continue putting money in Tom Benson's pockets amid deep budget cuts to programs like education and healthcare.

Other lawmakers, including Rep. Kevin Pearson of Slidell say the money the state gets from Super Bowl purchases more than make up for the payments.
