Pennington Researcher on Road to Becoming President of The Obesity Society
Description: A researcher at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center will have a seat at the table of any major discussions involving obesity over the next four years. Nikhil V. Dhurandhar, Ph.D. has been named vice-president of The Obesity Society for 2012-2013. But, he will automatically serve as president-elect from 2013-2014 and then president in 2014-2015. Dr. Dhurandhar will remain with The Obesity Society as immediate past president in 2015-2016.
A spokesperson for the Pennington Center describes The Obesity Society as "the leading North American professional and scientific organization that represents the study of obesity in Canada, the United States and Mexico." Dr. Dhurandhar's research focuses on certain properties in viruses that could be exploited to help find better treatments for diabetes. He has worked with The Obesity Society since 1994.
